The London-based singer wrote the song about the sadness felt during difficult periods of a relationship, and the moving video, which features a same-sex couple, was created by an entirely queer production team.

She told GT: “In this day and age masculinity can be so rigid. I felt it important to show a vulnerable relationship between two men in a way that normalises male emotion by reflecting the way we often see female emotion.

“Samuel Davies, who filmed and edited the video, and the dancers Nathan Pearce and George Craker did an incredible job of capturing the story and raw emotion of a turbulent time in a relationship between two young men.

“I couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved and what we have created.”

ZAE - Letting Go

[Verse 1]
I've been thinking about the
Things you say, things you say
Can't seem to get them out of my head, of my head

[Chorus]
I, know that I would stand in the rain
Waiting for a reason to stay
I, hate to see you torn apart
Can't choose between my head and heart

[Verse 2]
Can I still fight for what's left of us, left of us
When I fear my love ran out
Being out, being out, baby

[Chorus]
I, playing to a way to gain
Feelings begin to change
I, have no more than loss for you
You can't barley see this through

[Bridge]
Give me a reason, why I should stay
I could love you any other way
Let's start to reason, don't fall apart
I can't hold on
I can't hold on
I can't hold on

[Chorus]
I, know that I would stand in the rain
Waiting for a reason to stay
I, hate to see you torn apart
Can't choose between my head and heart
