"We had to just sit in the parking lot because I couldn't stop crying."
When Matthew Richardson and Francis Perreault decided to create a
performance art video telling the story of how they fell in love, they
may not have realized it would resonate so deeply with so many people.
After “The Arrow” started to spread across the internet over the summer, the acrobats decided to release another video to give us a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the powerful project.
The couple revealed that the Pulse nightclub massacre took place on the day before they were supposed to shoot the video, suddenly making it more important than ever to create an art piece about love and equality.
“When we went in the studio the next day to film, it felt like a different project,” Richardson said. “It felt like it meant something.”
In another emotional moment, Richardson explained why the video was dedicated to his late father, who was “Christian, completely, but accepted anybody.”
“He was the first one to tell me I was perfect and didn’t need to change,” he shared.
