22 billboards promote the “Safety: Delivered” campaign by AIDS Services Coalition.
The free Trojan condoms are part of ASC’s “Safety: Delivered” campaign. To get the word out, ASC has advertised the program on 22 billboards in areas across the state where HIV rates are high. For more detail on receiving the condoms, visit the ASC website.
“For several years, we had been doing a very small condom-delivery service through our organization,” Kathy Garner, executive director of ASC, told the newspaper. “Through the state, we were able to require a donation of condoms, and it really is the best way for many people to protect themselves from HIV and other STDs.”
It usually takes about one to two weeks for condoms to be delivered, she said, and people do not have to give their real names.
The center of today’s U.S. HIV epidemic is in the South, where 44 percent of people living with HIV in the United States are diagnosed, according to statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
