URGENT! Tell Congress: No Cuts to HIV Funding

Here’s how you can make sure our lawmakers adequately fund domestic HIV/AIDS programs.

Your voice matters! The House and Senate committees in charge of federal health care spending recently proposed funding levels for domestic HIV programs for next year that contain some disturbing cuts to crucial programs. After the election is over, Congress will reconvene to decide funding for the rest of the fiscal year. 


It is now or never! The House and Senate have until December 9^th when the current 10-week Continuing Resolution (CR) that was passed at the end of September runs out.  They must be held accountable to adequately fund domestic HIV programs, that impact our most vulnerable citizens.

Please join us in telling Congress to protect and invest in the lives of Americans living with HIV. Tell Congress to restore the cuts:

• Restore proposed cuts, including cuts that would eliminate the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Special Projects of National Significance (SPNS), the Title X Family Planning Program and the Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program, while also reducing funding to Ryan White Part C, the HHS Secretary’s Minority AIDS Initiative Fund (SMAIF), and the STD Prevention Program.

• Expand resources for the recently updated Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) programs.

• Eliminate funding for the abstinence-only-until-marriage (AOUM) grant program, aka “sexual risk avoidance,” as they fail to educate young people about their sexual health.
• Increase funding for domestic HIV programs.

• Oppose any ideological riders being part of any final spending package
