Learning what its like dealing with members of CONGRESS

Representative Steve Russell - Oklahoma

My frustration with answers that do NOT match my QUESTIONS

I am learning a lot about POLITICS and the POLITICIANS that have been ELECTED into OFFICE to REPRESENT the PEOPLE (ALL the PEOPLE). I am learning that representation DOES NOT actually include ALL the PEOPLE.

This man Steve Russell has once again answered several letters I recently submitted to him with AVOIDANCE of the ISSUES I requested attention to and avoided saying that we are ALL CREATED EQUAL by stating the following:

"In today's society, people should not be treated unfairly based
on race, nationality, religion, occupation, size, gender, or
sexual orientation."

He later states that, "We are a single nation made out of many
people from different races, nationalities, and religions. I believe
everyone is created in the image of God and we are all the same
under the skin. God gives us all a uniqueness that shapes us into
all colors, sizes, personalities, and beliefs."

I find it quite amusing that Steve Russell even had the nerve to write that statement in his response considering that as a REPRESENTATIVE of OKLAHOMA in CONGRESS he has personally written many legislative pieces fighting the EQUALITY of the LGBTQ COMMUNITY.

His latest hateful piece of legislation known as the Russell Amendment is just more PROOF of Steve Russells HATRED TOWARDS the LGBTQ COMMUNITY.

The Russell Amendment, named after its sponsor, Oklahoma GOP Rep. Steve Russell, would allow any religious-based entity that has a government contract to discriminate against LGBT people in what conservatives claim is an effort to expand "religious freedom." President Barack Obama has signed several executive orders prohibiting any discrimination against LGBT workers by government contractors.

In a letter to the House and Senate Armed Services Committees, 42 Democratic senators urged the committee to remove the section, saying it “would vastly expand religious-affiliated organizations receiving federal funds to engage in discriminatory hiring practices.

It is not only LGBT employees whose jobs would be at risk due to the Russell Amendment. The letter explains that the amendment “would also allow religiously-affiliated contractors and grantees to inquire about and discriminate against employees or potential employees based on an individual’s religion.

The language of the amendment “would give legal grounds for an employer to prevent a gay man from having their husband added to their health insurance,” David Stacy, government affairs director for the Human Rights Campaign, explained to NBC. “Trans people could be fired from their job upon announcing their intent to transition."

Senate Democrats are pushing for Republicans to drop the provision and have reached out to Chairman of Senate Armed Services Committee John McCain (R-Arizona) to remove the provision from the Senate version of the NDAA.

Stacy encouraged McCain to “stand with the majority of fair-minded Arizonans – and Americans all across the country – and drop this discriminatory provision,” The Washington Post quoted.

The letters I had sent to his office this time were all concerning people living with HIV/AIDS. Here are those letters for you to read and see for yourself how he totally AVOIDED every single one of the issues I presented to him.

As you can see from reading these letters are very specific to HIV/AIDS issues. The letters were not about viloence outbreaks and racial issues, like Rep. Russell replied in his letter. Yes, there were some discrimination concerns in these letters towards those living with HIV/AIDS. I am once again very disappointed with Rep. Steve Russell and his clear disdain for issues that concern me as a HIV Positive man living in his district in Oklahoma. I know from the several letters I have submitted to his office now that STEVE RUSSELL DOES NOT REPRESENT his LGBTQ Constituents. Here is a copy of the letter of response from Steve Russell so you can see for yourself how he totally avoid all 4 of the letters I sent into his office.

I can tell you that STEVE RUSSELL does NOT VALUE me or the rest of the LGBTQ COMMUNITY that he is SUPPOSSED TO BE REPRESENTING and I for ONE will NOT be VOTING to REHIRE HIM on NOVEMBER 8th.

More lessons learned about how "CHRISTIAN" CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICAN OFFICIALS try to use their POWER to SUPPRESS others...

Blessings and Peace,
