I write to my Congressmen all the time about Government Spending on HIV/AIDS Programs and I always get lame excuses back from them as to {WHY} it is difficult for them to ensure funding because they have to "WATCH" the way they spend money. REALLY?
How about they quit taking money from the HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY and DRUG COMPANIES to do their bidding and START making SMART decisions for their constituents HEALTH!?!
This response I got to my most recent letter about HIV/AIDS Funds got an okay response. Still Sen. James Lankford refuses to acknowledge me as an HIV PERSON living in his Distric with Legatimate concerns. Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford, who professes to be a "GOD FEARING" Christian man has been bought by MONEY and CORRUPTION in his short stent as an Oklahoma State Senator and NEEDS to go in the 2018 elections. We NEED REAL POLITICIANS who actually CARE about the needs of those living in OKLAHOMA.
I find it amusing that Senator James Lankford tried to one up me with HIV numbers in the USA which he probably had to look up to find. One only has to type in "people living with HIV in the USA" into a search bar to come up with the numbers Sen. James Lankford threw back at me in his response. I have written to him so many time now that he knows that I am HIV Positive and that I know more than he ever will about HIV and the actual numbers in the USA and around the world.
According to the CDC, In 2014, there were an estimated 37,600 new HIV infections—down from 45,700 in 2008.* In 2015, 39,513 people were diagnosed with HIV. The annual number of new diagnoses declined by 9% from 2010 to 2014. An estimated 1.2 million people in the United States were living with
HIV at the end of 2013, the most recent year for which this information
is available. Of those people, about 13%, or 1 in 8, did not know they
were infected. HIV disease continues to be a serious health issue for parts of the
world. Worldwide, there were about 2.1 million new cases of HIV in 2015.
About 36.7 million people are living with HIV around the world, and as
of June 2016, 17 million people living with HIV were receiving medicines
to treat HIV, called antiretroviral therapy (ART). An estimated 1.1
million people died from AIDS-related illnesses in 2015. Sub-Saharan
Africa, which bears the heaviest burden of HIV/AIDS worldwide, accounts
for 65% of all new HIV infections. Other regions significantly affected
by HIV/AIDS include Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the

Senator James Lankford who represents ME and thousands of other OKLAHOMANS should be concerned with HIS OWN STATE and know the FACTS!!! Instead he wants to throw national stats at me from 2013.

- In 2015, 317 cases of HIV were newly diagnosed in Oklahoma. Of the 317 cases, 273 cases (86.1%) were male and 44 cases (13.9%) were female.
- Over 65% of the newly diagnosed cases were in the 20-39 years age group (208 cases).
- Black/African Americans had the highest rate of newly diagnosed HIV/AIDS cases in 2015 (26.1 cases per 100,000 population) among all racial and ethnic groups.
- Of the newly diagnosed cases, 58.0% (184 cases) self-reported as MSM (Men who have Sex with Men).
- Three Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs) in Oklahoma accounted for the majority of the 2015 newly diagnosed cases: Oklahoma City (155 cases; 48.9%), Tulsa (94 cases; 29.7%), and Lawton (16 cases; 5.0%).
- At the end of 2015, an estimated 5,756 people were living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Oklahoma.
- Of these, 53.4% were HIV cases and 46.6% were AIDS cases.
- Males accounted for 82.7% (4,762 cases) of the HIV/AIDS cases living in Oklahoma, while females accounted for 17.3% (994 cases).
- The age groups accounting for nearly 70% of PLWHA were 20-29 and 30-39 years of age.
- In 2015, Black/African Americans had the highest rate of PLWHA cases (497.3 cases per 100,000) and accounted for 55.7% of all PLWHA (3,206 cases).
- Of the 5,756 PLWHA in 2015, 55.4% (3,191 cases) self-reported as MSM.
- Almost half (49.1%) of PLWHA in Oklahoma live in counties within the Oklahoma City MSA.
- By the end of 2015, 43.1% (4,364 cases) of the cumulative 10,120 HIV/AIDS cases diagnosed from 1982-2015 had died.
- Of these, 84.4% (3,683 cases) were diagnosed with AIDS, while 15.6% (681 cases) were diagnosed with HIV.
- Majority of the deaths were among males at 87.9% (3,837 cases), while deaths among females were 12.1% (527 cases).
- Of the cases known to have died, 20.6% (897 cases) died less than one year after their HIV diagnosis.
- People who were 30 to 39 years of age at the time of death accounted for the largest number of deaths (1,553 or 35.6%).
- Black/African Americans had the highest death rate in 2015 at 6.9 deaths per 100,000, but account for only 18.1% of deaths among all racial and ethnic groups.
In this recent letter from Senator James Lankford he made it perfectly clear that HIV Funding really is NOT a big concern of his but he wanted to reassure me he was doing everything he could for HIV/AIDS research. I want to thank Senator James Lankford for once again NOT giving reassurace to one of his constituents living with HIV that he would ensure that constituent has the medical assistance he needs to LIVE.

Once again Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford has proven that MONEY is more important than LIVES. Senator James Lankford has been bought and needs to know Oklahoman's know how he stands and will prove to him in 2018 that WE the PEOPLE are his EMPLOYER not the Healthcare and Drug Companies. If Oklahoma Republican Senator James Lankford wants to PROVE In GOD HE TRUSTS, he will STAND UP for the PEOPLE of GOD and NOT the CORPORATIONS putting money in his bank account!!!
