"History is on the side of marginalized people," Attorney General Loretta Lynch told out journalist Rachel Maddow on her MSNBC show Tuesday night. In an interview conducted at New York's Stonewall Inn — the birthplace of the modern LGBT rights movement — Maddow asked Lynch about equality in the age of Donald Trump and his potential AG, homophobic and possibly racist Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.
Lynch, who has loudly supported equality as the head of the Justice Department, struck a brave tone, saying history is bigger than one administration. Maddow also asked Lynch if Trump and his homophobic potential cabinet were a backlash to marriage equality, hate-crimes legislation, and open military service. Watch her answer below.
