Controversial One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson has claimed she is
ardently investigating exactly where LGBTIQ people come from so she can
accurately tell them that they should go back to wherever that might be.
Hanson has claimed that she’s in favour of holding the widely divisive same-sex marriage plebiscite and that all claims of hate speech arising from it have been overblown:
“It’s obscene to say that this plebiscite is going to lead to an increase in hate speech. That’s absurd. We’re going to have exactly as much hate speech as always, it will just be more out in the open and targeted. If anything, that will make this whole thing a lot more efficient.
“That’s why my research right now is so important. I need to know who is swamping us with these people - and right now, annoyingly, it seems they come from all backgrounds and walks of life. That’s reason enough to ban them, if you ask me, but here we are again.”
The move isn’t new from Hanson, who has already claimed that supporters of marriage equality should move to a country that supports legal recognition if they want it badly enough:
“They should just move,” said Hanson. “If they don’t like how we’re doing things here then they should head to one of those weird countries that respects their beliefs like say, the United States or the United Kingdom or Ireland or Argentina or Belgium or Brazil or Columbia or Denmark or Uruguay - geez, it’s really hard to work out where these people are coming from.
“Heck you could even go to New Zealand, wherever the hell that is. Sounds like some bizarre middle-of-nowhere place with crazy beliefs nothing like ours - if that’s where they got this crazy idea of everyone being equal then maybe you should head back there.
“And if you don’t want to experience homophobia you should just move to that country that doesn’t have homophobia. You know the one I mean. That place sounds awful.
“Basically, this is how I solve all my problems. I’m here to tell people if they don’t like the nation they should leave - which, you know, is strange since I’m also a leader of a radical party who are looking to change the very fabric of Australia - but I solve this dissonance by not looking inwards whenever I can avoid it. Works a treat for me.”
