🏳️‍🌈✝️ Scientists Shed Light on How HIV Raises Heart Disease Risk

Researchers found a way to block a protein linked with blood clotting and inflammatory processes using a drug derived from tick saliva.

Researchers have uncovered a new pathway by which HIV leads to the chronic inflammation and immune activation associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Using an experimental drug based on an anticlotting factor in tick saliva, the scientists were able to block this pathway in primates. Such success indicates that a drug may one day be developed that helps mitigate the increased risk of heart disease associated with HIV.

Even when taking a successful antiretroviral (ARV) regimen, people with HIV have up to a two-fold increased risk of cardiovascular disease, including heart attack and stroke, compared with HIV-negative individuals. Researchers believe that the chronic inflammatory state and the persistent activation of the immune system to which the virus gives rise is likely a major driver of this increased risk.

A major clinical trial called REPRIEVE is currently investigating whether a drug from the cholesterol-lowering class called statins may mitigate this risk and provide other health benefits among people with HIV who would not otherwise qualify for a statin.

Publishing their findings in Science Translational Medicine, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) scientists studied blood samples from people with HIV. They discovered elevated levels of immune cells known as monocytes that expressed high levels of a protein known as a tissue factor, which is linked with blood clotting and processes that give rise to inflammation.

The scientists further discovered that the level of such monocytes remained high regardless of whether the HIV-positive people who provided the blood samples had a fully suppressed virus thanks to ARV treatment.

Next, the researchers exposed the blood samples to an experimental drug called lxolaris, which is based on an anticlotting factor found in tick saliva. Previous research has shown that lxolaris blocks the cellular pathway that activates the tissue factor protein. The investigators found that the drug indeed shut off that particular protein in monocytes and did not otherwise affect normal cell function.

Studying monkeys infected with SIV, HIV’s simian cousin, the investigators found that the animals also had high levels of tissue-factor-expressing monocyte cells. So they treated five monkeys with lxolaris and found that this lowered levels of biomarkers that predict abnormal blood clotting and immune activation.

This finding signifies that by targeting the tissue factor pathway, lxolaris may lower some risk factors for cardiovascular disease among people with HIV. The drug has not yet been tested in humans, however, so considerable research would be needed to determine whether lxolaris may slow the inflammation and clotting processes that raise the risk of cardiovascular disease among people with HIV.

Preamble

Evangelical Christians at the dawn of the twenty-first century find themselves living in a period of historic transition. As Western culture has become increasingly post-Christian, it has embarked upon a massive revision of what it means to be a human being. By and large the spirit of our age no longer discerns or delights in the beauty of God’s design for human life. Many deny that God created human beings for his glory, and that his good purposes for us include our personal and physical design as male and female. It is common to think that human identity as male and female is not part of God’s beautiful plan, but is, rather, an expression of an individual’s autonomous preferences. The pathway to full and lasting joy through God’s good design for his creatures is thus replaced by the path of shortsighted alternatives that, sooner or later, ruin human life and dishonor God.

This secular spirit of our age presents a great challenge to the Christian church. Will the church of the Lord Jesus Christ lose her biblical conviction, clarity, and courage, and blend into the spirit of the age? Or will she hold fast to the word of life, draw courage from Jesus, and unashamedly proclaim his way as the way of life? Will she maintain her clear, counter-cultural witness to a world that seems bent on ruin? We are persuaded that faithfulness in our generation means declaring once again the true story of the world and of our place in it - particularly as male and female. Christian Scripture teaches that there is but one God who alone is Creator and Lord of all. To him alone, every person owes glad-hearted thanksgiving, heart-felt praise, and total allegiance. This is the path not only of glorifying God, but of knowing ourselves. To forget our Creator is to forget who we are, for he made us for himself. And we cannot know ourselves truly without truly knowing him who made us. We did not make ourselves. We are not our own. Our true identity, as male and female persons, is given by God. It is not only foolish, but hopeless; to try to make ourselves what God did not create us to be.

We believe that God’s design for his creation and his way of salvation serve to bring him the greatest glory and bring us the greatest good. God’s good plan provides us with the greatest freedom. Jesus said he came that we might have life and have it in overflowing measure. He is for us and not against us. Therefore, in the hope of serving Christ’s church and witnessing publicly to the good purposes of God for human sexuality revealed in Christian Scripture, we offer the following affirmations and denials.

Article 1 {Marriage is actually a contract & in the WORD of GOD they used MONEY and ANIMALS to pay to have the women “Married off” to the man. Thank God that “RULE OF MAN” was done away with. Oh wait in some countries they STILL DO THAT. The truth of this statement is the FACT that the "CHURCH" is supposed to be the "BRIDE" of CHRIST, therefore they try to make you believe that ONLY ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN represent that ETERNAL COVENANT. Jesus actually confirmed that there would be men with men and women with women who would be together when he comes back in Luke 17:34-37. Remember the TRUTH of GODS WORD will SET YOU FREE FROM the BONDAGE of RELIGION!!!}

WE AFFIRM that God has designed marriage to be a covenantal, sexual, procreative, lifelong union of one man and one woman, as husband and wife, and is meant to signify the covenant love between Christ and his bride the church.

WE DENY that God has designed marriage to be a homosexual, polygamous, or polyamorous relationship. We also deny that marriage is a mere human contract rather than a covenant made before God.

Article 2 {THEY REALLY NEED TO WORK ON THIS ONE. I GREW UP IN THE EVANGELICAL CHURCH and ALL THE KIDS WERE SEXING EACH OTHER BACK THEN,  just as I am sure they are STILL DOING TO THIS DAY! Also over HALF the EVANGELICAL CHURCHES are FULL of ADULTS having SEX, GETTING DIVORCED and REMARRIED “ALL AGAINST THE WORD of GOD”}

WE AFFIRM that God’s revealed will for all people is chastity outside of marriage and fidelity within marriage.

WE DENY that any affections, desires, or commitments ever justify sexual intercourse before or outside marriage; nor do they justify any form of sexual immorality.

Article 3 {This is FACT being twisted and a poor excuse to defend against people born genetically in the wrong body. In HEAVEN there will be NEITHER MALE NOR FEMALE "SPIRIT BEINGS in EARTHLY BODIES will be free to be SPIRIT Galatians 3:28}

WE AFFIRM that God created Adam and Eve, the first human beings, in his own image, equal before God as persons, and distinct as male and female.

WE DENY that the divinely ordained differences between male and female render them unequal in dignity or worth.

Article 4 {This one is just RELIGIOUS MEN being WORDY like the PHARISEES and SADDUCEES}

WE AFFIRM that divinely ordained differences between male and female reflect God’s original creation design and are meant for human good and human flourishing.

WE DENY that such differences are a result of the Fall or are a tragedy to be overcome.

Article 5 {EXPLAIN those born with BOTH REPRODUCTIVE STRUCTURES & PARENTS who DECIDE which to do AWAY WITH NOT giving the PERSON GOD CREATED the CHANCE to BE WHO THEY ARE!!! Oh wait they DENY physical anomalies and psychological conditions!!! Another ignorant argument by Evangelical men who think they know it all. Modern Day Pharisees and Sadducees}

WE AFFIRM that the differences between male and female reproductive structures are integral to God’s design for self-conception as male or female.

WE DENY that physical anomalies or psychological conditions nullify the God-appointed link between biological sex and self-conception as male or female.

Article 6 {NICE to see they acknowledge that there are those who are born with physical disorder of sexual development while trying to say those of US BORN LGBTQ are NOT BORN this WAY!!! More MANMADE HATE from “RELIGIOUS PEOPLE” NOT JESUS PEOPLE!!!}

WE AFFIRM that those born with a physical disorder of sex development are created in the image of God and have dignity and worth equal to all other image-bearers. They are acknowledged by our Lord Jesus in his words about “eunuchs who were born that way from their mother's womb.” With all others they are welcome as faithful followers of Jesus Christ and should embrace their biological sex insofar as it may be known.

WE DENY that ambiguities related to a person’s biological sex render one incapable of living a fruitful life in joyful obedience to Christ.

Article 7 {So I am to believe that this affirmation is from GOD, when I was PROPHESIED over in an EVANGELICAL CHURCH and the MAN OF GOD PROPHESYING told me GOD SAW me since I was a SMALL BOY CRYING MYSELF to SLEEP at NIGHT BEGGING HIM TO MAKE ME “NORMAL” according to the “EVANGELICAL CHURCH” that I loved so dearly, yet GOD WANTED ME to KNOW that I AM NORMAL and HE CREATED me JUST AS I AM to be a GOOD SHEPARD to others JUST LIKE ME that the “CHURCH” had rejected!!! NO, YOUR LIES don’t fly here because I have HEARD FROM GOD and I KNOW THE TRUTH and WILL SHARE THE TRUTH until I am standing before my MAKER whom I LOVE with ALL THAT IS IN ME!!!}

WE AFFIRM that self-conception as male or female should be defined by God’s holy purposes in creation and redemption as revealed in Scripture.

WE DENY that adopting a homosexual or transgender self-conception is consistent with God’s holy purposes in creation and redemption.

Article 8 {NOW this AFFIRMATION is a TOTAL CONTRADICTION to all the HATE being SPEWED in all these AFFIRMATIONS and DENIALS}

WE AFFIRM that people who experience sexual attraction for the same sex may live a rich and fruitful life pleasing to God through faith in Jesus Christ, as they, like all Christians, walk in purity of life.

WE DENY that sexual attraction for the same sex is part of the natural goodness of God’s original creation, or that it puts a person outside the hope of the gospel.

Article 9 {Here we have another wordy affirmation condemning men and women having sex outside of marriage for both LGBTQ & STR8 people. GUESS WHAT you need to PRACTICE what YOU’RE PREACHING HERE. The EVANGELICAL CHURCH is full of DIVORCED/REMARRIED PEOPLE that JESUS CALLED what, ADULTRY!! Matthew 19:8-9 HOWEVER the “CHURCH” APPROVES IT & encourages it to continue without BIBLICAL JUSTIFICATION. ARE you seeing the pattern here folks? EVANGELICAL MEN are the MODERN DAY Pharisees and Sadducees FORCING their personal laws on people to oppress and control them.}

WE AFFIRM that sin distorts sexual desires by directing them away from the marriage covenant and toward sexual immorality—a distortion that includes both heterosexual and homosexual immorality.

WE DENY that an enduring pattern of desire for sexual immorality justifies sexually immoral behavior.

Article 10 {IT is SINFUL for the EVANGELICAL CHURCH to DISAPPROVE that WHICH GOD has made PURE through HIS SON JESUS CHRIST – LGBTQ PEOPLE are WONDERFULLY MADE SPIRITUAL BEINGS living in HUMAN BODIES that MAY OR MAY NOT FIT WHO THEY ARE INSIDE!! To continue in this HATE is against the WILL of the GOD these people claim to SERVE. Remember these same EVANGELICALS have called an EVIL MAN GOOD and made him President. God says NOT to call EVIL GOOD or GOOD EVIL in Isaiah 5:20. Again God says in Acts 10 NOT to say something is BAD when HE PURIFIES IT. WE ARE PURIFIED through believing in JESUS CHRIST LGBTQ PEOPLE, John 3:16-18.}

WE AFFIRM our duty to speak the truth in love at all times, including when we speak to or about one another as male or female.

WE DENY any obligation to speak in such ways that dishonor God’s design of his image-bearers as male and female.

Article 12 {An AFFIRMATION I can actually AGREE WITH, however I do NOT put limitations on GOD’S GRACE for ANYONE, INCLUDING LGBTQ who come to JESUS and ASK HIM to be their LORD. JESUS nor GOD puts LIMITATIONS on GODS LOVING GRACE, Mankind does that, and that my friends is a SIN against GOD. God's GRACE is SUFFICIENT according to

 2 Corinthians 12:7-9}

WE AFFIRM that the grace of God in Christ gives both merciful pardon and transforming power, and that this pardon and power enables a follower of Jesus to put to death sinful desires and to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord.

WE DENY that the grace of God in Christ is insufficient to forgive all sexual sins and to give power for holiness to every believer who feels drawn into sexual sin.

Article 13 {So these people want you to DENY who GOD CREATED you TO BE so you will fit into their definition of “NORMAL”; when GOD AFFIRMS YOU and LOVES YOU JUST AS HE CREATED YOU TO BE.  This article reaffirms that these Modern Day Pharisees and Sadducees want to control you!! God created each of us in HIS LIKENESS "Spirit Beings living in HUMAN SHELLS to control ALL HIS CREATION Genesis1:26-28. Problem is MANKIND HAS FAILED to take CARE of GOD'S creation so HE MUST send HIS SON back to RECLAIM that which HE CREATED and make it PERFECT again, read the Book of  Revelation and you will know the TRUTH.}

WE AFFIRM that the grace of God in Christ enables sinners to forsake transgender self-conceptions and by divine forbearance to accept the God-ordained link between one’s biological sex and one’s self-conception as male or female.

WE DENY that the grace of God in Christ sanctions self-conceptions that are at odds with God’s revealed will.

Article 14 { WOW a second AFFIRMATION I CAN AGREE WITH – ALL PEOPLE including LGBTQ who BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST as HE SAID WITH HIS OWN WORDS will BE SAVED. JESUS SAID ALL WHO BELIEVE, NOT just the WHITE EVANGELICAL CHRISTIANS!! JESUS SAID ALL who believe in HIM will live forever with HIM John 11:25-26, HE did NOT say only STRAIGHT EVANGELICAL PEOPLE, HE SAID ALL, PRAISE GOD!!!}

WE AFFIRM that Christ Jesus has come into the world to save sinners and that through Christ’s death and resurrection forgiveness of sins and eternal life are available to every person who repents of sin and trusts in Christ alone as Savior, Lord, and supreme treasure.

WE DENY that the Lord’s arm is too short to save or that any sinner is beyond his reach.
